Last Cozy Day?

Today was WINDY here in Fort Collins.  The weather this week is supposed to be a little wonky.  I'm thinking we may get a few more days of colder weather, but it's supposed to be in the 80s on Saturday!  Can't wait to enjoy the sunshine.

Loving on LOFT Today

You all know I have a bit of a LOFT problem. I love their clothes!  When I was a Sophomore in college my Aunt took me shopping there for some interview clothes and I was hooked. Their petite sizes fit me really well, and I think they do clothes for 20-somethings really well.  I found this skirt buried in my closet today and got a bit nostalgic, it is from my first ever trip there.  I love that even though that was three years ago, it still fits my style and wardrobe perfectly.  Obsessed.  I bought this shirt a few months ago and I love it for work-it has the chambray feel but is really light and a bit crisper, which I like for the office.

Bright Orange for Spring

Once Spring rolls around, I find myself loving every bright thing in my closet.  In the Winter, I'm much more for neutral colors. Get ready, because I will be busting out the bright colors as Spring rolls in!

I'm a little limited with what pants I can wear currently, so I will probably be featuring these black ones quite a bit until I can get back into some of my pre-diagnosis pants. Dresses and skirts it is! :)

Blue & Gold

First of all, sorry for the crappy picture quality! I had to leave my house this morning at the crack of dawn, so the light hadn't really started streaming in yet. I got this dress this weekend because I was in desperate need of clothing that fits while I gain back weight lost from UC, and I love it! It fits perfectly and hits at an appropriate length for work.

My accessories were my favorite part of this outfit. I was on a blue/gold kick today! Both are from PopSugar boxes (which I love), and it was so fun to match them together.

Feeling Minty Today!

I'm back! Slowly but surely, I'm starting to feel better and move forward.  I hated taking this long of a hiatus from blogging, but I needed to take some time to myself to re-center and figure out my priorities through all of this.

Spring has officially sprung in Fort Collins. I was laughing about how last year Colorado decided to dump snow on us for a solid few days at about this time, so it's been nice having consistent 60 degree days for the past week.  Of course, now that I say that, it will snow tomorrow.

I have worn this dress on the blog before in one of my first posts!  I bought it in London when I studied abroad and I love wearing it whenever Spring rolls around.

Where Have I Been?

Needless to say, this week has been a bit of a rollercoaster.

For the past month or so I have not been feeling like myself. Sluggish, tired, I haven't been hungry (SHOCKER) and I have had to force myself to go out with my friends or boyfriend.  I knew this behavior was off, but I couldn't pinpoint exactly what was wrong with me.  I thought it could be stress, or a combination of other things that had been on my mind.

Last Sunday, I couldn't keep any food down. I was struggling to eat simple things like mashed potatoes, yogurt, and fruit. I wasn't stomaching food that I have loved for years. I also realized that I had lost 6 pounds in one week.  Keeping my weight stagnant has never been a problem for me, so I finally gave in and had a friend take me to the hospital.

After a series of tests and talking with what felt like 10 doctors, I was diagnosed with a form of Crohn's Colitis.  I had heard of Crohn's Disease before, but had never even heard of this "colitis" thing.  It's an autoimmune disorder that causes your intestines to think nearly everything you eat is posing a threat to your health. Basically, my body was gearing up for this fight that didn't exist, and had been flaring up for months.

What surprised me most about this diagnosis is how many people actually have it. After I found out what was wrong, I had a steady stream of messages on my phone and Facebook from people saying that they've this for "X" amount of years and they've managed to head into remission quickly and lead normal lives.  What was tricky for me to understand was how this disease was so common and how few people talk about it.

This is not a particularly flattering or glamorous subject, but I think this should be discussed. I don't think anyone should ever feel embarrassed about hiding a disease from someone because it's just "not talked about."  We should start these conversations and start making noise!  Taking charge of your health and owning up to something that you suffer from is not something anyone should be embarrassed about.

The next few months will be difficult.  The doctor told me that it takes a few months for your body to head into remission after something like this happens to you.  It's going to be an upward battle for a little while, but I have so appreciated the kind words and support from across the spectrum.  If anything, situations like this make you very appreciative of the type of people you surround yourself with. I'm blessed beyond belief.

Have a great week,

Lizzy
